Koh Tao, which means Turtle Island, is one of the most popular islands to go Scuba diving in Thailand. Its crystal clear waters and marine life make it the most favoured destination of all who dive here. It is amongst the first sites in Thailand and most of the local economy is dependant on this trade so conservation is a priority. Koh Tao, or Turtle Island, is a beautiful island just 21km², located a short trip north of Koh Phangan and is vastly becoming the premier destination to gain an Open Water Diver certification in SE Asia.
Packed with a range of dive sites for beginners and advanced divers alike, the visibility on average ranges around 15-20m all year round except in November where the visibility is reduced due to weather. Among the most popular dive sites are Japanese Gardens, Twins, White Rock, Green Rock, Red Rock, Hin Wong Pinnacle and South West Pinnacles, which all have their own unique charactistics that ensures every dive will be different.
